Stalker Online is a newly announced MMO that was inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1979 film Stalker, as well as the subsequent Stalker games. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic time period, Stalker Online is a mix of DayZ and PUBG. It has that FPS vibe to it mixed with a survival MMO.
The game, which features a “large open world that has been meticulously detailed,” will release on Steam in the fall. It takes place in a post-soviet 90’s desolate landscape. As would be expected of an MMO, it incorporates some RPG elements but allows players a bit of freedom when it comes to their playstyle — learning occupations, gaining reputation with factions, and participating in the social aspects of the game.
Now I’m going, to be honest with you guys. This honestly looks mediocre. Judging by the trailer, this looks like a fan-made mod of arma or some other popular shooter style MMO. None of the features is really “revolutionizing”. The graphics are average if not sub-par. I really just don’t see a lot of hype behind this. Now granted, we are given extremely limited information if any at all. The so far “endgame” is “solving mysteries of the zone”. I’m kind of curious what they mean by that because honestly, this looks more or less of a Battle Royale then an MMO.
