Previously a couple of days ago, the Gamigo group (Who owns ArcheAge and more) was hyping the community up for a special announcement. 7 days later, we learned that the announcement was a launch of a brand new ArcheAge server packed with an entirely new monetization method. That’s right. ArcheAge: Unchained, a buy to play version similar to the Guild Wars 2 monetization method.
ArcheAge Unchained aims to address some of the biggest grievances that the community has addressed in previous renditions and relaunches.
In Unchained, everyone will have the same amount of Labor regeneration and a cap of 5,000 Labor Points. Housing will be available for everyone. Apex will also be removed from Unchained.
However, this news did not greet everyone with excitement. ArcheAge veteran players after learning that their characters on the other ArcheAge servers will not transfer over to Unchained were vehemently against the idea of another jumpstart AA server, citing concerns for a population split between legacy servers and Unchained. Can this new server bring back ArcheAge to its glory days? That has yet to be seen. Many critics are pointing out flaws with this new approach, stating that the changes will have no effect in creating an equal playing field. There’s also the huge concern for player-alts. All of the concerns will hopefully be addressed in the coming weeks.
