I’m not going to sugar coat it. All of us gamers know how brutal the gaming industry is, specifically the MMO industry. With ever-changing interests amongst gamers and an encrocaching shift towards mobile games, companies are forced with an increasingly difficult decision. Some of these decisions include terminating development projects. “Cutting losses” sort to speak. Well, I’m sad to say that Peria Chronicles is one of those projects. Nexon has ceased the development of Peria Chronicles. According to Inven Nexon has concluded that Peria Chronicles after multiple stages of testing could not “satisfy the user”.
Now, this may not have come to a surprise for few. We reported earlier that the Nexon giant is showing signs of sinking. Nexon this year has gone through a tremendous financial struggle. After laying off its entire western staff, Nexon still refuses to admit that it’s going under a “Company restructure”. Things apparently have escalated since then, resulting in a protest outside Nexon HQ. Though there has been no official word from Nexon, players can agree that these times do not bold well for the company. With a lack of transparency, some would even argue if Nexon will continue to be around in 2020 and beyond.
However, there is some good news out of all of this. After speaking to “Ama” discord admin of the unofficial Peria Chronicles discord. They have confirmed that some members of the community will begin working on establishing a “Private Server”. Though, to be realistic the chances of this private server succeeding are extremely slim as well as time-consuming. More than likely we will not see this project come to light in 2-3 years and we will be repeating the waiting process all over again.
