Brace yourselves folks, it’s with heavy heart that I announce more bad news for the MMO community. It’s sure been one hell of a week. Astaria Online, originally due to be released into early access on steam August 1st has been delayed. The game developer Proverbs has stated that at least 1 month is needed, pushing the games expected release into September at the earliest.
Now, this was to be expected. Early footage of the game looked as if Astaria was barely playable citing major CPU issues, graphic issues, crashes, and basic internal systems that looked clunky. What really set players off is the communication between staff and players. The announcement for delay was 1 day before the supposed “early access” and to make matters worse. Players had to learn about the delay by digging through the “general” channel of the discord server.
So what is Astaria? Well, to be honest theres very little information on the game if any at all. After relentlessly sniffing out information from their discord and players who were in the last test. This is what I can confirm about this reclusive MMO.
Astaria is a MMO focused heavily on the social aspect. From my understanding, there will be no “PvP”. Instead the game revolves around what I like to call “SAO” style. Where players are introduced into an environment of Players vs Developer. It seems the direction of the game is gearing towards a communal style. What guild your from doesnt matter as all players of the server need to cooperate against keeping the “Demonic Invasion” at bay.
Astaria will include a heavy focus on crafting and team play. It will feature “territory capture”, an emphasis on guilds, and a unique liberation (campaign) system.
Now this is an interesting concept, what really concerns me is the execution. Speaking with players from test 1, it seems that the game was as mentioned above clearly in alpha state. I’d like to see this concept turn out well. I have high hopes for Astaria.
