Inferna is an upcoming MMO slated for Early Access of this week. Nicknamed “Metin 3” by the community, Inferna has already peaked the interests of veteran Metin players despite no game information being available to the public. Today I’m joined with the Inferna Dev team to talk more about this reclusive MMO and to hopefully give readers more information on what Inferna is.
Squishy: As you may be aware, a lot of the community believes this to be inspired by “Metin 2” even nicknaming it “Metin 3”. Is this true? Would you say Inferna is inspired by Metin 2 or inspired by a multitude of different MMOs?
Stormy: Inferna is based on a variety of MMOs. Of course, there is a certain touch of other games in Inferna, that’s because we want to give the player a familiar feeling in a completely new game. That’s why we planned to make the controls freely assignable until the release, so that nobody has to get used to other MMOs. (if that’s what the community wants, we’ll see at the polls in Discord, where we’ll vote every 2 days on game decisions)
Squishy: On the Steam Page, Inferna describes 4 classes. Magician, Warrior, Assassin, and Semi-Demon. I believe a lot of us are curious about this “Semi-Demon” class. Can you go into more detail about it?
Stormy: The half-demons are men or women who came into contact with hell energy during the night “Infernumantis”. This evil energy changed the human DNA. In some daemons magic slumbers and these are called magic half-demons. So there are two subclasses within the daemon class. The half daemons receive the warlike training in the camp of “disgust”.
Squishy: What can players expect in Early Access in reference to available content? What kind of PvP and PvE Content can we expect?
Xen: I think that we have a lot of content where people can play together PvE or PvP even when we have so big plans for the future. For me the best aspect is that you can do nearly anything in a group, it’s not necessary, but it brings me more fun.
Squishy: In terms of PvE Content, will Inferna have World Bosses, Raid, Dungeons or entirely something new?
Stormy: Inferna will have dungeons, many maps, and above all an exciting gamestory and meaningful quests. (Mir fehlt hier Information zu World Bosses, ich glaube damit sind Bosse die in der Open Map sind gemeint, statt in Dungeons -> Bosse in Open Map sind umkämpft, wodurch eine Mischung von PVP und PVE entsteht. Außerdem entwickeln sich dadurch spannende Geschichten “damals die Schalcht gegen die andere Gilde, die wir gewonnen haben”) In addition, there are some Easter Eggs to find. With the weekly updates completely new things will be added. Which ones can be decided by the community!
For example it is planned that there will be guild maps later. On these maps a guild house can be built and extended. The resources for this should be available on the map. There will be rankings about farming and fighting as well as special guild tournaments.
Squishy: Inferna has so far confirmed factions (Caratas & Jerro). Will be PvP revolved around these warring factions? (Open-world)
Stormy: Yes it will be.
Squishy: Will progress from Early Access be wiped once it goes into full launch?
Stormy: No, all progress will be maintained.
Squishy: What kind of cash shop can we expect? What will the pay model be for Inferna? (F2P, B2P, Subscription)
Xen: The game will be free to play but we will not have a pay to win concepts. We will sell mainly cosmetics such as skins, effects or animations.
Squishy: In your opinion would you say Inferna is more focused on PvP or PvE?
Stormy: I would say it’s PvP. (aber es wird auch viel PVE content geben für die, die lieber pve machen)
Squishy: Why did you decide to take on this project?
Stormy: Because some of the team members enjoyed playing MMOs and saw many opportunities for improvement. There was also the desire to create something new with the help of the community!
Squishy: As you may be aware, modern gamers today are shifting towards a solo-playstyle. Will Inferna be friendly to that notion, or would you heavily incentivize the classic MMO-Group play mindset.
Stormy: Both are possible at Inferna, but we want to encourage group thinking and give bonuses to groups. It is important to us that players like to play with other players and get to know new people. We like the idea of making friends in the game.
