Making headlines again, Project C has finally left the shadows of the “Media Blackout” and has recently announced its official roadmap. First announced last year as one of the grand MMOs utilizing SpatialOS technology, the only information that has so far been revealed about Project C is the following “Project C is a persistent open-world multiplayer online game where players join clans and build societies on an abandoned planet brimming with wildlife, fascinating technology and adventure. Developed by an international all-star team from Ubisoft, Valve, Rockstar Games, Guerilla Games and 2K, Project C is being made to change how people perceive open world online games. ”
The Roadmap that was recently announced by Darewise Studios seems to be focused on creating the basic systems on a monthly basis. Below you can find the timeline and detail of each system.
August 2019: Wildlife
“One of the most exciting parts of science fiction is the new world experience, seeing different colors, trees and of course, the wildlife of the planet. As we make a living, breathing world to explore, you’re going to encounter flora, fauna and animals that should immerse you in your experience. We started with the Iron Beetle first and want there to be interesting interactions with it. And just like our home planet, Earth, it will take some time to fully document the wildlife of Corvus.”
September 2019: Specialization
“When you touchdown on Corvus soil, it should feel like a truly second life. Choose how you want to interact with this alien environment. Make the life you want for yourself. Unite with fellow pioneers to create the world you’ve always believed possible. To make this possible, we’re developing gadgets and inventory, to allow for deep player progression. XP systems will come later. As a player you won’t be confined to one experience. You’ll acquire sets of equipment to accomplish different in-game opportunities. Equipment will be vital to the moment-to-moment combat, in-game tech and exploring the planet. Our first equipment sets are focused on crafting, fighting, exploring and trading.”
October 2019: Commerce
“The American West conjured some amazing storytelling around the American wilderness, but some of the most popular stories that remain are around a dusty Main Street where commerce took place. We’re striving to build multiple ways for you to engage in commerce on Corvus. Trade is going to be a vital part of your experience and we’re exploring ways to have both physical, player-to-player trade but also offer players way to create their own sales apparatus. Contracts can be made or acquired – both player-to-player or through the frontier government. We want commerce to help drive in-game quests and content for players, making this one of our most significant systems to build.”
November 2019: Customization
“You’ve found your place on Corvus and are even making a modest living. But how do you truly stand out from your friends and fellow pioneers? Corvus will never look the same after we implement our customization systems into Project C. Whether it’s cosmetic for your in-game character, base or clan paraphernalia or items and elements found in the game’s user interface, each of you should find just the right way to express yourself on Corvus through these systems.”
This “secretive” project is so under the radar that there’s extremely any if at all information on this MMO. Leaving us to rumors and hearsay. However, by the looks of Darewise studios, the staff isn’t a slouch and seems to boast some “A-Listers” from studios such as Ubisoft, valve, and etc. So rest assured that the talent is definitely there to create such an ambitious title. Going over their website, the MMO seems to be heavily focused on group content such as guilds/clans, and almost sounds like a survival MMO. Literally, the word “Clan” is stated 5 times on the website distinctively, it would seem team-play is a heavy focus point for Project C.
